On Tuesday, January 19, Scott Brown shook the democratic majority in the White House to its core and became the icon for conservative Americans all across the nation by busting the 60-seat Democratic majority in the Senate.
Beating the favored Democrat Martha Coakley by more than 5 points in a state where the registered Democrats have a whopping 3.5-to-1 advantage should be a loud and clear signal to the powers that be in Washington D.C. that their current style of government is not of, for, or by the people.
While pundits on both sides of the aisle debated whether his win was a referendum on Obama, on healthcare, on Democrats, or on the big drug and pharamceuticals Martha found time to be with just days before the big election, Barb Davis White had just one thing to say:
'It's clear to me that true conservatives will be elected in 2010 and be expected to govern by our core values, consistent with the heartcry of our constituents.'
Look for the Democrats to start scrambling. They will turn populist in an effort to appease the majority, and they will try to make it sound like they were in agreement with their constituents all along. They'll say things like 'I never was for the healthcare plan in its entirety, but there are some good parts I don't think we can discount just yet.' In other words, watch out for major pivots by the representatives whose jobs are on the line in 2010. Watch out for a shift of attention to the economy, national defense, terrorism man-made disasters, or any thing besides the health care plan that plagued us for months.
Oh - and come this November, watch out for those flying pigs.

As we all watched in horror the devastation the Haiti earthquake has created and continues to cause, I couldn't help but be proud of how Americans stepped up to the plate to help their fellow man. Donations have poured in from all over the world, and America is once again at the top of the list of major contributors. Let's face it, folks, we are a caring nation. No amount of apologizing for who we are will take that one away.
The American Hospital Association (AHA) has encouraged hospitals to make donations, USS Comfort was deployed to the area to service up to 1,000 patients, plane loads of supplies continue to pour in, and countless non-profit organizations, doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals have stepped in to assist.
Not once did I see news footage or learn of an article where a Haitian was asked about their existing insurance, their age, or if they had any pre-existing conditions that may present a legal liability for the volunteer(s). Not once did I hear about Haitians having to purchase something in order to receive the care or pay taxes because they had a better plan than others. Not once did I learn that a Haitian had to make the painstaking decision of which relative should get care and which was too old or useless to society to bother.
In short, we and other nations cared for the people that needed it, and how wonderful a world this can be that we would go and freely serve healthcare to a foreign nation in dire need. Helping Haiti is a good thing.
Ironically, I also can't help but think how twisted our government is in terms of caring for its own people. For months, our 'leaders' have served up lies, dis-enfranchisement, and back-room bribes in exchange for votes on a plan that will further sink this country into an economic black hole. They made special deals to special interests, gave certain groups a free ride, and completely ignored Obama's countless promises that all of it would be transparent and aired on C-SPAN. We counted on our leaders to be there for us in our time of need, yet the most they could muster was to completely shut out one party, call the protestors of the plan an 'angry mob' at town halls this past fall, and ram whatever they possibly could through the system in an effort to get something, anything done.
In the same short time it took to come to the aid of Haiti, we could have created a meaningful health care plan, less than 10 pages long, addressing the following:- Allow insurance to be purchased and used across state lines to increase competition. We want less restrictions and more availability;
- National government would not offer a health care plan as it would be a conflict of interest. Rather, govermnent is there to keep an eye on fraud, free competition, and ensure coverage;
- Tort Reform to reduce the amount of frivolous and exhorbitant damage lawsuits;
- No forcing of health care on any citizen. It's unconstitional.
Congressman Keith Ellison (5th District, MN) voted consistently to abdicate our constitutional rights by trying to force us into a government controlled health-care system. The socialist Democrats kept their healthcare plans in the back rooms, but we will give the voters a chance to decide on November 2, 2010.
